Yesterday, I took some time to reflect.

I had the realization that I needed a fitness deadline.

It’s not typical I need to lose weight type of deadline, but more so, I need to build a better structure to do more.

So I did some research and found 2 competitions in December for the USAPL.

I reached out to my friend, who just so happens to also be a powerlifter.

I asked what he thought about me doing this, he knows I have 2 babies and a growing business.

So he addressed the fact that it’ll take a lot of work, but it can be done.

So, I spoke with my partner. I tested the waters at first just to see if she was up to travel or if I had to do this close by.

The girls aren’t the fondest of long car rides, so we had to take that into consideration.

She has the same concerns, the girls, the business. She reminded me that training for a competition is a job on its own.

Final decision, TBD.

The next day

Which would technically be today.

I woke up at 5 am.

Because I went to bed at 9:30

… already prioritizing sleep.

I woke up feeling good.

So I started training.

I had Bench today, so I warmed up and made sure things moved well.

I felt strong and alert.

Mindset starting to visualize the platform.

I surprised myself with an easy 5×5 @ RPE 7 at 95 kg or 209 lbs.

I’m currently weighing between 181 -185.

After that, I hit some Bent over Rows for 3×10

3x AMRAP pull-ups

3×15 bar dips

3×10 hanging leg raises

And cooled down with a 1 mile walk.

All in the nick of time because just as I finished my last set, I got a text saying the girls were up. It’s barely 7 am!

Summary

I think training for a meet would be good for me and the family right now. It would give us more structure and create that urgency we need to build up some good habits. It’s already started to prove itself even just after the conversation.

So now, over the next few weeks and months, we will dial it in and get more focused, and I’ll document the journey along the way.
