How I found my passion

It all started when I was 15. I walked into the weight room for the first time and it had my attention immediately.

I was dying for an outlet and not to mention insecure and uncomfortable in my body.

I was the short chubby kid.

I didn’t play sport, although I’d dream of the possibility. I even tried out a handful of times. But it never lead to anything more than that.

Shortly after I discovered the gym my whole life changed.

My parents told my siblings and I that we were moving at the end of the semester.

I was crushed.

After the move I grew depressed, gained a metal plate in my leg, added more fat onto my already husky frame, picked up bad habits and to top it off I kept getting put into the friend zone.

It wasn’t until I stepped on the scale and realized I was about to be the 200 pound short kid I was terrified of being. I had just turned 20.

That was my last straw.

I will never be 200 pounds, I promised myself.

And so it was.

That next morning I started following a strict diet and started walking the block for miles with our German Shepard.

I would listen to music, I’d chant mantras about how I wasn’t worth loving because of my weight and appearance.

Mentally I wasn’t in a good place, I was desperately looking for change.

I started taking classes about health and fitness in college.

I eventually signed up for a gym next door to my job.

But no way I’d go during the day, strictly after 10pm. When it’s empty and no one can see me struggle.

A year later I dropped over 40 lbs.

I gained muscle and strength.

I gained a huge amount of confidence.

I got the girl.

I gained new friends.

I became a more positive and optimistic person.

I was focused on my studies.

And I wanted more.

That’s when I realized this was a passion for me.

I started to look forward to going to the gym.

The more I learned the more interested I became.

And now 13 years later I’m still going strong.

I’ve learned so much about myself during my fitness journey.

And the best part is, it’s only just begun.

I used to want to be the leanest and strongest person in my weight class.

But now that I have a family of my own my goal is to inspire others to find their passion for health and fitness.

Most of us don’t want to be the leanest of the strongest in the world.

Most of us just want to be able to spend time with family, move around without pain, or even just have the energy to go to work and do the chores lol.

I found my passion for health and fitness from dispare.

Don’t be like me, be better than me and understand that health and fitness is a lifestyle and not a 30 day diet or a 6 month competition prep.

It’s 365 x ♾️
